The Beginning
The Curry name has generally been spelled "Curry - Currey - Currie".
Curry is a Celtic word meaning a marsh or an herb.
The Seventh Generation
Researchers differ greatly on the genealogy of our Curry
family starting with the seventh generation. Some
researchers indicated that the parents of the sixth generation
John Curry came from Germany while others indicated that they
came from Scotland. This provided the following choices for
the parents of John Curry (1765 - 1825)
I. John H. Curry (born about 1738 in Lanarkshire, Scotland)
and Margaret Wallace
Son of James Henry and Elizabeth Curry
Genealogy for this family goes back five generations.
II. George Casper Kohr (born November 17, 1724 in Ehrstadt, Pfalz, Germany) and Anna Barbara Ohrendorff
Son of Michael Kohr and Anna Maria Fitler
Genealogy of this family has also been traced back five generations
In both cases they were listed as being the parents of:
John Curry - Born March 17, 1765, in Bethel, Lancaster
County, Pennsylvania - married Eleanor "Nellie" Welsh -
they were the parents of ten children -
(direct ancestor) see Sixth Generation below
Until such time that research proves one to be correct,
neither are being added to the Morlan family tree.
John Curry was born March 17, 1765, in Bethel, Lancaster
County, Pennsylvania. He married Eleanor "Nellie" Welsh. She also was born about 1765.

Lost Run, Harrison County, West Virginia. Harrison County
initially was located in Virginia but is now in West Virginia. It is located in the north central part of the state near Clarksburg, West Virginia.
